How to make the Knit 1 under the loose strand (K1 uls)

  1. Insert the right needle into the front of the work, under the loose strand.
  2. Insert the tip of the right needle into the front loop of the next stitch on the left needle, from left to right.
  3. Wrap the yarn counterclockwise around the needle.
  4. Pull the yarn through the stitch and out from under the loose strand.
  5. Slide the stitch off the left needle to complete the K1 ULS.

Cast on and setup row

Color A
  • Cast on: A multiple of 6, + 3.
  • Wrong side row: P2, *slip 5 wyib, p1; work from * to last stitch, p1.

Main Pattern

Color B
  • Row 1 – Right side: Knit.
  • Row 2 – Wrong side: Purl.
Color A
  • Row 3: K1, slip 3 wyib, k1 uls, *slip 5 wyib, k1 uls; work from * to last 4 stitches, slip 3 wyib, k1.
  • Row 4: P1, slip 3 wyib, p1, *slip 5 wyib, p1; work from * to last 4 stitches, slip 3 wyib, p1.
Color B
  • Row 5: Knit.
  • Row 6: Purl.
Color A
  • Row 7: K1, k1 uls, *slip 5 wyib, k1 uls; work from * to last stitch, k1.
  • Row 8: P2, *slip 5 wyib, p1; work from * to last stitch, p1.

Repeat rows 1–8.
