How to make the Knit 1 under the loose strands (K1 ULS)
- Insert the right needle into the front of the work, under the loose strands.
- Insert the right needle knitwise into the front loop of the next stitch on the left needle.
- Wrap the yarn counterclockwise around the needle.
- Pull the yarn through the stitch and out from under the loose strands.
- Slide the stitch off the left needle to complete the K1 ULS.
Worked Flat
Cast on a multiple of 4, + 1.
- Row 1 – Right side: Knit 1, *slip 3 wyif, knit 1; work from * to end.
- Row 2 and all wrong side rows: Purl all stitches.
- Row 3: Knit 1, *slip 3 wyif, knit 1; work from * to end.
- Row 5: Knit 2, *knit 1 uls, knit 3; work from * to last 3 stitches, knit 1 uls, knit 2.
- Row 7: Knit 3, *slip 3 wyif, knit 1; work from * to last 2 stitches, knit 2.
- Row 9: Knit 3, *slip 3 wyif, knit 1; work from * to last 2 stitches, knit 2.
- Row 11: Knit 4, *knit 1 uls, knit 3; work from * to last 1 stitch, knit 1.
Repeat rows 1–12.
